How it works
How are UAE fuel prices set?
UAE fuel prices are set once a month by the UAE Fuel Price Committee. The country deregulated petrol and diesel prices in 2015, and since then the committee has reviewed them at the end of every month in line with average global oil and fuel prices.
The new prices are announced on the last day or two of the month and take effect on the 1st. Because the calculation uses monthly averages, pump prices follow world oil prices with a short lag: a jump in global prices shows up at UAE pumps the following month.
